There is a saying in Russia: “Как Новый Год встретишь, так его и проведешь.” - meaning the way you enter into the New Year, the way it is going to last. Russian Embassy enters into the new 2007 year with a generous holiday break through January 9th. So, hopefully, they will be open occasionally during the next year :)
